Trees, baboons, a school and one last sunrise

I was at a loss as to what to title this post as it includes random photos in and around The Cavern.

A point of interest, which I haven’t made mention of, is that the Drakensberg or uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Around the hotel and along the Nature Trails are information plaques explaining the surroundings, rock formations, trees etc   … very interesting indeed

Baboons are common ‘unwanted’ visitors that clamber on roofs, jump from branch to branch looking for tasty snacks on trees, bushes etc.    Once, on a previous visit, we watched them strip aloe leaves for the succulent juicy bits inside.   They’re rather scary,  but easy to chase away by clapping your hands

…. and then you get the cute animals like the shy bushbuck that wander through the grounds  …

The Royal Drakensberg Primary School was started a few years ago by  ‘The Cavern Family’ who  ‘believe that the only way to make a real contribution to our community is through education”    http://www.cavern.co.za/khanyisela-project-rdp-school/
