A night stop at Omaha Beach

A night stop at Omaha Beach

Having spent some time at Omaha Beach itself, then a walk-about the Normandy American Cemetery .. in the drizzling rain!  .. we were ready for third last sleep-over in France .. our last two nights, as part of the Trafalgar Tour, was back in Paris.

We stayed at the Mercure Omaha Beach which was a super location, on a golf course … but a bit disappointing.  None of our rooms had air-conditioning (and it was very hot that night) (but that’s not unusual for France, we believe)  and some from our tour group had cramped attic type rooms (one elderly gentleman hit his head badly on a slanted beam – he was not tall!)  Our room had  gorgeous pink hydrangeas right outside the window, the hot tarred car park and golf course beyond.  Fortunately with our window and heavy curtains wide open, it cooled down a little in the night.  The dinner wasn’t that great and, if I remember correctly, the breakfast wasn’t as good as all the other hotels we’d stayed.  For a night’s stop-over it was ok

But .. as we had all got to know each by then, we had an enjoyable evening besides the moans and groans,  and after dinner, hubby and I went for a glorious twilight walk on the golf course

Hundreds of little yellow golf balls scattered on driving range 🙂

A gorgeous rose with which to end this post 🙂

Next stop … Monet’s garden in Giverny before making our way to Paris
