This is our neighbour ..

..  he was murdered today 🙁

A defenceless man in his mid-seventies.

Tied up and beaten to death by intruders, this morning at around 9.30, in his home.

His home ..  opposite ours.

A wonderful man, a special couple, a super family.

He was my guardian angel.  He used to keep on eye on Elaine and I, and our house, when hubby was away on business, and during the day when hubby was at work.  I sometimes saw him peeping over his wall.    Although unseen, I knew he would glance through his dining room window in our direction, many times during the day.  I didn’t mind it at all.  I felt safe.    Even now that hubby is retired and at home, he was always there.

And now he’s gone.    I am angry .. very angry

… and very sad

Our neighbourhood has become particularly bad over the last few months – the crime rate high.  Weekly we hear of break-ins, around the corner .. down the road … up the road  … on the next road, and the road after that.    Our local police have even brought in an extra unit from Pretoria to help.  We see them, they are visible .. but where are when we need them ??

Goodbye dear neighbour, dear friend .. we will miss you.   Rest in peace
