Our Cape visit … Olive Grove Guest Farm
It’s been two years since hubby and I travelled by car to the Cape. This time to visit family and friends, and especially my Mum. Breaking the journey with an overnight stop is much more pleasant than doing the 1402 kilometre stretch in one hit. The first day was motoring through the Great Karoo, semi desert region of more than 400 000 kilometres which can be boring for some, but we enjoy it’s vastness and unique beauty …
We whizzed passed this old car with Zimbabwe number plates, and hubby wondered how much petrol it guzzles on long trips, especially these days with the cost of petrol rising continually !!
This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Olive Grove Guest House, near Beaufort West a little more than half way
Hubby enjoying a welcoming cold beer outside our room … – it was extremely hot there!
..
Goats pen, olive trees … mountains in the distance ..
Sundowners on the verandah where tables were set for dinner by candlelight later – so peaceful and quiet …
Olive platter to nibble on while we watched the sinking sun …
Garlic stuffed olives …
Sunset over the olive trees ..
Mist sprays for thirsty trees at sunrise …
Driving along the farm road towards the main road …
Definitely recommend an overnight stop at Olive Grove .. comfy rooms, honesty bar, delicious dinner (at extra cost but worth it- how can you not have home cooked Karoo lamb!!!!) and breakfast and very friendly service, run by husband and wife team, Ian and Sonia. There are also self-catering cottages and a swimming pool on the farm.

Beautiful!!!!
The view makes the long drive all worth it 🙂
Don’t you just love a road trip? This looks like the ideal spot to stop over. Beautiful rooms and a great place to explore on foot.
Looks like an absolutely gorgeous place to stay!
