On the road to Positano …
After arriving in Sorrento from Pompeii and a quick freshen up at Hotel Corallo, we were back on the road again … on the road to Positano, ‘a village clambering down a vertiginous slope to the sea’. This time, in two small buses …. easier to negotiate the sharp twists and turns of the narrow coastal road ..
We stopped at a view point … a little hazy looking into the sun but breath-taking all the same !!!!
Back into the buses ..
Another stop en route … with a wonderful view of Positano tucked away against the mountain side….
Panning from left, centre then to the right …
Not only was it a view point overlooking Positano, but there was a shop filled with local goodies ( I regret not buying anything 🙁 ) as well as juices, fruit and vegies, olive oils etc ..
We were given delicious icy cold lemon juice to drink and fresh fruit to nibble on – perfect for a hot afternoon ..
The white fruit is a type of lemon (the same one as was hanging on a stall in Pompeii)
… back on the buses again winding our way down into the village ..
You can see how narrow the streets are …. the buses only just fit
.. and it’s a wonder if they’ve ever ploughed into patrons sitting at pavement/street-side cafés !!
Next … a stroll up and down narrow streets of Positano
