Walk-about in Venice .. part II
Having walked with our local guide to Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, we didn’t retrace our steps but walked back through different narrow streets and over different bridges making our way back to St Mark’s Square .. of course both hubby and I taking photographs as we walked, of this most fascinating city of Venice
Bridge of Sighs, from the other side, and Ponte della Paglia – from where we stood elbowed our way earlier to take photos of the famous bridge ..
Finally we reached our meeting point with Antonella .. at the side of the Basilica di San Marco next to a marble wellhead and marble steps which, I might add, we were not allowed to sit on, no matter how tired our feet were!
Tummies were grumbling by then. A bite to eat was necessary and definitely something cold to drink! Hubby and I joined Bob and Connie at a restaurant down one of the streets. We sat next to a canal and ate delicious bruschetta and sipped an Aperol Spritz – an aperitif made with Italian orange liqueur, Prosecco or sparkling wine with a dash of soda water, sparkling water or mineral water and a slice of orange and/or green olive. Yummm!!!!
Back across the waters to our hotel on Lido di Venezia for a rest, or a walk-about or whatever … until we met up again, under the big tree, for an evening trip to the colourful island of Burano and dinner .. .. ..

This place fascinates me. Space must be at a premium and obviously there are no gardens. Shows how we in South Africa is spoiled with space.
