Granny Mouse Country House and Spa in the Midlands
Years ago I had read about Granny Mouse in a magazine and always longed to either pop in for a look-see, or to stay, even for a night. When we were in the Midlands for Elaine’s wedding at Providence, we didn’t get a chance to drive very far down the R103 and explore the Midlands further.
Sooo, here we were at last .. for two nights :)!! It was fabulous! Old English style with thatched roofs and open beams, warm and friendly, delicious food : breakfast and Bistro as well as award-winning cuisine in The Eaves Restaurant, a fine dining restaurant hidden in the eaves above the Bistro. There is also a huge wine cellar. A fabulous homely place for winding down
Two of several cosy lounges, all of which had roaring fires in the evenings …
Breakfast spread …
Breakfast is served in the Bistro – with this awful wallpaper!! Well .. definitely not to my liking anyway. It didn’t go with anything in the room !!
Spa … in tranquil secluded surroundings…
Beautiful chapel amongst tall trees and view over the valley …
Lush garden with hedges of Camellia ..
We left on a Saturday morning and when hubby was packing the car he saw one of the managers collecting a basket full of Camellia petals for their ‘Romantic Evening’ 🙂 apparently every Saturday night the beds have scattered petals 🙂
Quirky signs add a touch of humour ..
Magnificent large trees cover the grounds …
This is our room, surrounded by trees with a view over the river. It was really really lovely!
…. next post 😉 I will feature our very comfortable and tastefully decorated room with fireplace, and a super bathroom complete with floral touches, essential oils and bath salts (all from Lavender and Co.) plus I will add photos from a walk down to the river in my following post 🙂
