Getting to the beach … option two
Our preferred option at Umngazi River Bungalows and Spa 🙂
From our scrumptious breakfast served at Emlonyeni, the exclusive day retreat for 7 bungalows, to walk back up our steep path to our bungalow to fetch hats, camera etc was a no-no, so our morning walks started from Emlonyeni. By our last day, I was practically sprinting up that hill!! It’s amazing what you get used !!
Walk with us ….
Reading the sign at the ‘kissing gate’, there must have been a gate here at one time. From this point to the rocky outcrop with the interesting rocks in previous post ‘getting to the beach .. option one’ , and back to kissing gate, it’s 5 kms … so a group of ladies said, who have been meeting up at Umngazi for the past 14 years !! 5 kms equals the Delta parkrun which hubby and I do. Getting back to the parkrun tomorrow is going to be tough as we haven’t been for a couple of weeks. Delta Park is one of the toughest courses, apparently, and that’s not me just saying it. This 5 kms beach walk was a breeze !! Easy peasy !!
Anyhow … let’s continue …
Shells and pebbles …
Hubby became an avid shell collector – with beach bag in hand !! He became the beach bag carrier in which we put our flip-flops, shells and pebbles and my camera when not in my hand, which was practically never !!
We spotted the happy couple in the distance against the black rocks ..
Reaching the black rocks, we couldn’t go any further as the rocks were slippery and we weren’t sure on the tides
Walking back …
A very preggie mommy with toddler and small child, and nanny (from the hotel) – she needed the nanny 😉
A small herd of cattle frequents this river back ..
After taking the pic above of mommy cow, I turned to come face to face with this large fellow !!! I hadn’t heard him coming !!
Yikes !! hubby had my flip flops!!! I had to hobble over the stones to calmly leave the big fellow alone
