Seabed flora and pebbles
Umngazi River Bungalows and Spa : http://www.umngazi.co.za
On our last walk on the beach, having encountered cows and more cows, a runaway horse, and birds, hubby and I discovered that the tide was very low and attempting a ‘sea crossing’ to the other side of the rocky point seemed like a good idea instead of clambering over the rocks ..
Fisherman in the distance in top photo .. zoomed in to see him. Most of these low rocks were under water a few days before ..
We had to walk on all this knobbly flora (or were they creatures!)
Large slug under water ..
This was really, really slippery! We were doing well until we passed the pale rock on extreme right. Hubby slipped first .. on his bum! I was coming up the rear but watching my footing, looked up at him then down again to feet and rock, next moment I was also on my bum .. camera held high. Getting up was a mission as it was soooo slippery 🙂 🙂 🙂 .. and hoping I hadn’t cracked my coccyx !!
Yay .. we made it ..
Pebbles and shells (mainly broken) ..
Chappie with packet was picking up all the good shells, I presume to sell. Didn’t leave us with much of a choice!! His packet was full and heavy!! The other chappie, behind hubby, was on business from the Netherlands. Based in Joburg but took advantage of a weekend at Umngazi. Sergio joined us for lunch and dinner later. He was keen to hear of the many beautiful places in South Africa he should visit while here 🙂
I would have filled our bag with pebbles, but hubby wasn’t keen!!
Sergio had been on a long inland walk and came out on the next beach. On our next visit, next year, I want to walk further round this bend to that beach ..
There were a couple of fishermen on the rocks …
Walking back we decided not to go slipping and sliding and took the path instead …
Looking at the first part of the ‘sea crossing’. Not as easy peasy as it looks ! But I do believe you need to purchase those rubber water booties which are available from the hotel’s shop (only found out later!)
Negotiating the rocky path proved quite tricky, especially with camera in hand …
