Lunch and wine on a chilly rainy day at Ernie Els Wines, Stellenbosch: Nov 2017
Stepping back in time. November last year. Hubby and I, and my wine-tasting-buddy-and-extra-special-niece Daniella enjoyed a spot of wine tasting and lunch in the cosy and warm wine tasting room and restaurant of Ernie Els Wines in Stellenbosch. Rain was a welcome relief for drought stricken Cape but didn’t last long sadly.
Emerald green lawns greet visitors at the car park ..
Pretty entrance …
Granite boulders reminded hubby and I of Matopos and the landscape around Msvingo, as well as my cousins home in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Reminded us of home …
Complementary glass of wine of your choice on entering. Nice touch 🙂 I loved the heavy wooden table ..
Sipping a Syrah while choosing our wines for tasting ..
A quick browse while we wait for our sommelier …
(see previous blog post) weather permitting you can try your hand at swinging a golf club to pop a ball onto the tee on the lawn below ..
The restaurant is fairly small but we didn’t mind waiting by the cosy fire for a table …
Both Daniella and I had the Chicken Poke bowl whilst hubby had a Decadent Beef burger and naturally a glass of Ernie Els Syrah ..
Really really nice Ernie Els branded clothing available ..
So there you have it … Ernie Els wine farm in the heat of summer (previous post) and a chilly rainy cosy-by-the-fire wine tasting and lunch experience 🙂
